Shorter trips means more trips per day which means more utilization for airlines than possible with current aircraft.

Exec is fresher for meeting/ thinks better. Intercontinental travel is a day trip/ one night, not a brutal week. Like having a late night conference call vs a young child with pneumonia. One broken night of sleep is much easier than 3 in a row (each way).
