11yo's teacher asked students to go ask parents to change allowance: 1c on day 1, doubling every day, reset end of month. Apparently several parents went for it. (We gave ours a strong glare. She admitted she didn't think we'd fall for it.)
She'd take it in an instant, because that would still leave us out of pocket!
And it doesn't materially change the outcome, either :)
My teachers told me this when I was in the 6th grade and my parents grounded me for trying to dupe them. Do not try this at home kids.
