Why delete it?
Warning: if you delete The Great Suspender, all your suspended tabs (which will be most of them) will be lost.

I deleted it to test whether it was responsible for a bug I was encountering playing Youtube videos. (It wasn't.)

In the extension options there is "session management" tab. Really useful to export all tabs for backup or reopen all the tabs in case they disappeared upon browser crash or update. Which happens sometimes.
