I find drones annoying, but I support mostly deregulating amateur use.

maybe because basically every recreational hobbyist flying drones flaunts the rules in really dangerous ways all the time.

As a heli pilot, drones are scary AF and regularly operated in violation of FAA rules regarding height, proximity to airports, etc. While the right method should be up for debate, something has to be done at the device level because the operators ain’t gonna do it otherwise.

The people talking about the rogue drone pilots (no serious incidents) don’t get that this has nothing to do with that and everything to do with commercial flirts of UAS that are coming and want traffic control for interoperability in the sun 400ft airspace 1/2
-
The FAA could solve this much more elegantly designating 200-400ft (for e.g.) for remote is equipped autonomous UAS and leaving 0-200 at the discretion of property owners to allow such UAS to land to deliver or to fly recreational model aircraft. 2/2
