There is an opportunity here for a new journalistic outlet covering tech. The problem with the negative coverage is not its negativity per se so much as its shallowness. It's so predictable. There is an unexploited opportunity to go deep into the ideas.
A profession in terminal structural decline vs. one that is "eating the world" are inevitably going to be at loggerheads.
Maybe it will generate some empathy about Wall St in tech industry. Both have issues to deal w/ but improve lives far more than press critics do. FB, Google, Amazon have improved my life as a consumer; tech press or NYT gen negativity + noise & could go away & I wouldn't care.

Flagging the tech media for 'shallowness' in addition to cynicism is really instructive. There's a generalizable association between 'pessimism' + the 'pretense of journalistic rigor'.
