Since 1979 Gallup has asked people, "In general, how satisfied are you with the way things are going in your personal life at this time?" This year, 90% of people answered "satisfied," the highest ever in the poll's history. Makes it a peculiar time for a political revolution.pic.twitter.com/Q4317141ob

Curious. Inconsistent with my theory that the most parsimonious way to explain the last three (maybe five) US Presidential elections is that the electorate voted for the candidate they thought most likely to cause major changes. May indicate my theory needs to be changed.

The electorate voted for the more charismatic candidate, as they have in every election since 1968.

Who is more charismatic, Trump or Sanders?

I was just wondering that. I don't know yet. But Sanders is definitely more charismatic than Hillary.

Could this be a sign that it’s not “the more charismatic person wins”, but that “the winner always seem more charismatic” — that is, we remember them as winners, and therefore are charismatic in our memory?

Yes, hindsight bias is a big thing. Counter example: William Jennings Bryant => Highly charismatic, very populist platform, campaigned around the country => defeated by William McKinley - uncharismatic but supported by big business. (Or is TV the make or break here?)

watch one of Trumps rally's, no contest. Bernie is passionate but Trump puts on a complete show.

Are you kidding? Sanders is about as charismatic as a cardboard box. Trump is, by elimination, more charismatic but by no means on a level of an Obama or JFK type

If you eventually settle on Trump being the more charismatic (this is the only correct answer for any mainstream definition of "charismatic"), I'd be happy to take the other side of the bet at +138/2.38 or higher (which is the current market price for Trump to lose). How much?

Dear Paul, what is the deadline to decide/declare who is more charismatic? Because if you need to wait until the election, your hypothesis may be just another Historian's Fallacyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historian%27s_fallacy …
