      It's hard to say to what extent they don't understand it and to what extent they're pretending not to in order to rally political support. It's sort of like trying to guess Trump's actual views on immigrants.

          Unfortunately this seems very true. They probably do understand it. But they also probably know that your average citizen doesn't understand emergence. So ofc they'll pander. We need more politicians that seek to educate while they politic.

          To a large extent capitalism has failed in trickling down the capital and wealth inequality has risen. Though every thing is not because of the billionaires but a lot can be explained by the system which helps them.
