        Is their often a conflict when many ambitious people work together? Do good teams need a balance of all kinds of ambitions (personal and professional) that people have?

        This is so true. It has been my experience that the encouragement I got on my entrepreneurial journey has been from successful business people. Non entrepreneurs and unsuccessful people tend to offer discouraging advice.
