Is it really the case that we’ve made no substantial progress on cancer? The current age-adjusted mortality rate is the same as in 1930, and the recent decline only tracks the fall in smoking.https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/cross-check/the-cancer-industry-hype-vs-reality/ …

Might be to do with the face we have a lot more causes for cancer to go along with the earlier detection.

Good analysis from
@slatestarcodex from late 2018, concludes there is probably small but non-zero progress (modulo smoking reduction)https://slatestarcodex.com/2018/08/01/cancer-progress-much-more-than-you-wanted-to-know/ …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@paulg I wonder ... is it a question of improved detection, rather than a question of success of treatment? -
Lead time bias. Meaning: “You now live longer an average of 2 years longer with tumor X because by the meerest coincidence we’ve gotten good at spotting tumor X about 2 years earlier than we used to. You’re welcome!”

The cause of cancer isn’t being researched. Inflammation is caused by vegetable oils, lectins, wheat, sugar, alcohol. People with inflammation are more likely to get cancer. Causation not proven. Big pharma don’t want it cured, big food want maximum addictive foods for profit.
