  We have a medical industrial complex. This 'progress' we see is largely better detection, not better treatment. Tumor size has also plummeted in recent decades.   I strongly disagree with this characterization. 1) Innovation in cancer treatment is incremental, but they add up.   The cause of cancer isn’t being researched. Inflammation is caused by vegetable oils, lectins, wheat, sugar, alcohol. People with inflammation are more likely to get cancer. Causation not proven. Big pharma don’t want it cured, big food want maximum addictive foods for profit.
