I am averse to getting coffee. I dislike almost everything about it. Standing in line. Looking for a table. The coffee itself (hurts my stomach). The fact that I did ~500 of these meetings in my first 18 months as a VC. How can I get over my aversion & learn to love it?

When I meet people, I often just go for a walk with them. Maybe you could do that instead.

I mean, wouldn't that come out when you do meet with them at the coffee place?

Yes! I wish more people did that. Something about walking and talking that helps people open up at times.

ya walking 'jogs' the convo way better than caffeine. ideally a combo of both, for me. as a little kid i often was punished by teachers for moving and tapping in my seat. as an adult i know i need kinetic energy to get my thoughts and feelings out.

Walking meetings are such a rad way to get the conversation to where it needs to be. Meditative and channeled make for a good combo

Yes so true. Sadly it's cold and rainy here in NYC so a bit tough for a relaxed walk... I often host people I'm close with, and do a call/zoom otherwise.

Perhaps it's the neutral and ambiguous nature of coffee shops I dislike. Meeting a close friend at a coffee shop feels odd to me. As does meeting a stranger.
