One trick for avoiding Twitter mobs is to try to arrange that no individual tweet is exciting as the subject of a quote-tweet. E.g. mention the topic in one tweet, then say the dangerous thing about it in the succeeding tweet, but merely using a pronoun.

His technique is based on the ability to break an idea into multiple tweets so that mobs have nothing to latch on. Character limit is not of much relevance.
