8% of global CO2 emissions are due to cement production, and most of that is due to the manufacture of one ingredient, clinker.https://reader.chathamhouse.org/making-concrete-change-innovation-low-carbon-cement-and-concrete# …

We are working on helping these enterprises get aware of their responsibilities and adopt Sustainable practices. Reducing usage & as much as possible, using sustainable alternatives in such cases, could help.

Of *human* global CO2 emissions. Human CO2 emisions represent 5% of global emissions.

Reminder of CO2 emission figures: - vegetation & animals = ~440 Gt every year. - oceans = ~330 Gt every year. - human activities = ~30Gt every year.

Clinker isn't "one ingredient". Basically, clinker is cement in its previous state. Most of the global cement imports and exports are actually shipped in the form of clinker.

Mostly production requires heat. Given enough surplus power from renewables, that should be manageable without much trouble. I think one big issue is people imagine the post fossil fuel power market will look like it does now. It won’t.

The whole point of concrete is it’s load bearing properties. Hempcrete has 5% of the compressive strength of concrete so it’s not useful in terms of any significant replacement
