Any area that is untouched yet by software and technology (which is still relatively large parts of GDP) will see amazing growth in startup activity over the next 10 years 2020’s will be about late adopter industriespic.twitter.com/nIChnbfNKG

Perhaps there will be a lot of tech for late adopters, but also a lot, as usual, for early adopters? Just more tech period.

Yes, though I still worry we are far from the next platform shift (eg smartphones will be the main computing device for another decade) On the other hand every moment feels like we had just got through a major shift, and that’s when the next one emerges (a toy, like the Altair!)

Platform shifts tend to be hard to predict. They seem obvious in retrospect, but think how hard the last one would have been to predict. Someone somewhere (maybe in Kitchener, Canada) could well be making the next platform right now. http://bynorth.com

I think the emergence of voice, vision and sophisticated A.I. is a slow burning platform shift we are in the midst of. May not have a central point of emergence like the iPhone did, but will gradually dominate every area of tech, just like cloud has

The platform shift is often right there - but nobody sees it till some amazing app built on it comes. There is always a magic moment that signals the start of a platform. E.g iPhone moment, when the first light bulb went on. What are the wow moments of 2019?

Not saying we won't get there eventually, but problem with this as well as smart watches is the input output dilemma. If I receive a notification that requires action and need to use my phone to do so, the would rather receive the input on just one screen.

Two other platforms that are coming which may be interesting are the Boston dynamics spot mini and brain computer interface type platforms like neural link.
