Students who make things: do you get the most ideas when you're bored during exam season, or is it just me?

I think perhaps it was similar to the phenomenon of a hungry person dreaming about different kinds of food. I was so conscious that I was wasting my time that I couldn't stop thinking about other kinds of work I could be doing.

I always want to be no more than one level of productivity below where I should be: if I don’t have studying to do I feel fine relaxing/reading etc. if I should be studying, I feel guilty purely relaxing, but coming up with/researching ideas feels almost as productive as studying

Apologies, I realise the syntax here is suboptimal

Haha exactly. I usually later realise that a lot of the "exam season" ideas I have are dumb, and extra hyped up in my brain because I was so bored while thinking of them that any idea seemed great. Like when I'm super hungry, all food seems like the most delicious.

Same, except for some reason, they're usually pretty cool ideas and not so lame. Huh.I don't think it was because I bored, but rather that all the information+adrenaline melts like different crayons in my brain to form a giant crayon statue.

I've found that a certain degree of boredom stimulates my creativity, unrestricted time for my projects is also not good.
