Students who make things: do you get the most ideas when you're bored during exam season, or is it just me?

I think perhaps it was similar to the phenomenon of a hungry person dreaming about different kinds of food. I was so conscious that I was wasting my time that I couldn't stop thinking about other kinds of work I could be doing.

I always want to be no more than one level of productivity below where I should be: if I don’t have studying to do I feel fine relaxing/reading etc. if I should be studying, I feel guilty purely relaxing, but coming up with/researching ideas feels almost as productive as studying

Brain develops and works best when you are bored. Einstein was talking about this too. I am worried about future generation that is constantly kept busy and distracted by social media endless scroll.
