I don’t know many people that paid a broker fee in NY in the last 10yrs. Streeteasy/Trulia/Zillow all eliminated most of the need a while ago. Could the simplification of the process (search, booking appt, signing lease, maintenance requests) eliminate most of the costs incurred?

What do you think it would take to turn the city into a Craigslist market like SF? The technology is already there (StreetEasy). I suspect it’s the insane application process that gives brokers their value add today for landlords.
