The #1 cause of startup death is making something no one wants. The #2 cause is spending too much. Those two account for so many deaths that I'm not even sure what #3 is. If you merely make something people want and don't spend too much, you're way ahead.

Agree that often founders are the ones who face the problem but to know that problem is wide spread and till we get enough early adapters to believe, many times it feels if it’s really problem for just me or others as well. Thanks Paul for responding.

Both startups offered users a way to make money from their largest personal assets that are idle. Home (Airbnb) and car+time (Uber). Both could have calculated the potential value add on the front end and would have come up with answers in the billions of dollars.
