The subscription-only business model in action. Publications become newsletters, shutting out not merely audiences but people who could reasonably be considered participants in the conversation.

Recruiting existing publications, who all think they are so important that people should have to subscribe individually to each. I think the solution is going to require new publications, not just new payment models.

I'd happily subscribe if Bloomberg had a $10 or even $15/month plan. At $35 it's cost-prohibitive, especially in combination with WaPo, NYT, and WSJ. I'd pay up to $50/month for all four.
