I love it when people tell me a startup idea that goes against most current trends.

This thread itself could grow into a startup: pitch your startup to PG or other brand-name investors, and either get validation/advice/exposure or a savage beatdown. Sort of like AngelList mixed with Shark Tank. Open equity crowdfunding for startups that "pass".
It wouldn't work. The founders matter more than the idea, and you can't tell what they're like well enough.

A good idea in the wrong hands vs an okay idea in the right hands. Hard work overcomes all obstacles. This is very freeing. Gives hope to the masses, like me.

What do you think matters more, in that case, quality of the founder or persistence in execution? i.e. Founders > Execution > Idea OR Execution > Founders > Idea

That is a badly phrased question, because persistence is one of the most important qualities in founders.

But there's clearly something here: it appears you like replying with your judgement, and the audience likes to hear it. It could be something other than investments, e.g. public "office hours", then the advice gets to help many more people than it would 1-on-1.
