I don't know about that one. I think someone who really loved their work would rather do it than fight with fools about it.

if the fools have no power over your work, i think that makes sense. but when they run for elected office on a platform of dismantling your industry, i think you have to fight.

It's more like a compulsion, and, yes, the opinions of fools are not relevant to its validity or value. — Unless you're planning on getting paid for it, of course. Then you are as much a slave to public opinion as anyone else.
