People often ask how long I spend on essays. On average about 2 days per printed page. But it varies a lot. "The Refragmentation" (http://paulgraham.com/re.html ) took 3 months, because it required a lot of research, and "Writing, Briefly" (http://paulgraham.com/writing44.html ) took 67 minutes.

Is it because it’s a physical medium or is it the switch of media that enhances the sensitivity of your mind? If you printed it on jello maybe you’d see things that you didn’t notice before.

Thouch screen that is able to dynamically extrude physical keys and knobs would win in an instant. Seems impossible with current tech though.

Physical media/objects engage the brain more widely. Sensing is related to learning, remembering and creating. So, I'm like you: If it's important, I print it. - If we fail to pass this on to future generations, they will inevitably reinvent it … as long as they are physical ;-)
