Pay per article and dynamic pricing at that. This way important articles may be read by all. This model will also generate distribution influencers. For example I will pay and read an article referred by Paul Graham.https://twitter.com/paulg/status/1219911533070897153 …

One novel consequence of the new paywall model of journalism is that only your subscribers even see your articles. It used to be that when an important article was published in a national newspaper, everyone concerned had read it. Now only subscribers have.

That is actually an interesting idea. A class of curators would emerge.

I also liked @VitalikButerin's idea (from @BitcoinMagazine) of "article ransoms": unavailable until a fixed total amount is collectively paid.

Robert Cottrell from The Browser argues for per article (and author centric) model in recent podcast. Which I found very good.https://www.perell.com/podcast/robert-cottrell …

Email subscriptions to a curated list of paywalled articles. Show a like/clap button based on the # of people that have paid for each. Marketplace for the subs platform, curators get paid commissions on new subscribers to publications, users search the most sold articles by topic

We actually did this at Trend by using micro influencers as content creators with a pay as you go model and have seen amazing results. Looking to get into YC 😅

This sounds a lot like @Blendle does in the Netherlands. Pay per article, refund if it wasn't to your liking and subscribe to curated lists.
