Another interesting statistic is that YC has likely produced on the order of 20 billionaires already (admittedly, counting private valuations). There are ~600 billionaires in total in the United States. (From looking at the Top YC Companies list and doing some ballpark math.)

A lot of biotech cos are missing from this list, which defines unicorn as private co. Biotechs IPO instead of raise C or growth rds. Avg biopharma IPO occurs ~3 yrs after Series A Avg IPO post-$ is $700M, ~15 IPO "unicorns" / year in biotech https://www.baybridgebio.com/biotech-ipos.html …
