"The members of Away’s board say they feel as if they fell victim to management by Twitter mob." Prediction: Organizations will gradually learn that Twitter mobs are not representative, and can safely be ignored.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/13/business/steph-korey-away.html …

So the board members are the real victims here... glad we got that straight. Victims of momentarily thinking someone might hold them accountable?

"Fell victim" is just a figure of speech meaning the board felt they made a mistake in judgment. Surely you get that. I would have expected more from the CDO of a well-known firm like @frogdesign.

Who made a mistake in judgement?

I understand the figure of speech. I also think that the use of words like “victim” and “mob” always contain an implicit value judgment, which I find questionable in this case

The core idea that companies can ignore negative social media with impunity is an interesting one though. Runs counter to the dominant narrative of social media marketing (which doesn’t mean it’s false of course)

Seriously. Does this guy have nothing better to do than argue semantics on twitter?

Seems to me like your reflexive insistence belies some prejudice here. Corporate boards are among the most under-regulate, self-dealing groups in the country.
