1) Send yourself an email with GMail scheduled for tomorrow with the subject “What’s Happening?” 2) Tomorrow, answer the email. Then forward it to yourself scheduled to arrive the next day. 3) When you get the email, repeat the process.

I'm sure there's a shell script that could do something like this via an email server. No need to rely on a third party online service for private notes. In any case it shouldn't be too hard to make.
And for your startups & cross org teams, create a group (Gmail has groups) and send it there. There is likely a plugin that can send the email for you on a predefined basis without having access to the response. No need to write code for this one.
