Hard to build a business when users have know you to trust the app.
I'd trust an app that had existed for a while before I asked for it on Twitter. But this would be easy enough to build that it would be tempting to someone who wanted to play a nasty trick on me.

Doesn't matter who makes the app if it's code reviewed and you own your own data (encrypted, your own) which is why this probably wouldn't be an email app. Also, email is easier to subpoena/discover.
