Having seen the Oculus Quest in action over the past week, I agree with this. One thing no one can deny about Zuck: he's good at acquisitions. Which is a major achievement, since they are generally botched.
One of Zuck's most impressive qualities is his willingness to pay a high price for an acquisition that's worth it. Few CEOs are so bold. Though of course he has the anti-example of Yahoo failing to buy him to inspire him.

Yes. M&As are a lot like startup investments. It's rare that they are close to break-even. Instagram would have been a great deal even at $2B, for example. Other deals like aQuantive are writeoffs.

It's interesting that no-one talks about it as much & mostly paints Zuck in a negative light all the time. Your comment makes me wonder about the importance of a public image, Zuck is almost out of public discourse apart from the pure negative stuff.
