Does the sentence "Install the app to set up your device and create an account" scare you? It sure scares me. To me it means "You will spend the next hour dealing with complicated things that don't work."

Update: It took about an hour and a half. Parkinson's Law seems to be in effect here. If it took a day to set up a new device, that would seem intolerable, and get fixed. But once you cross the line of tolerable, pressure to fix problems drops dramatically.

By default, the time and effort required to set up a new device will be just short of intolerable.

there are two types: those that come from companies that understand this and use it as a differentiator (e.g. Apple usually) and those who are desperate to release early and hopefully make it better as they go.
