Does the sentence "Install the app to set up your device and create an account" scare you? It sure scares me. To me it means "You will spend the next hour dealing with complicated things that don't work."

Update: It took about an hour and a half. Parkinson's Law seems to be in effect here. If it took a day to set up a new device, that would seem intolerable, and get fixed. But once you cross the line of tolerable, pressure to fix problems drops dramatically.

Which is interesting because engineering organisations naturally prioritize by user tolerance. I've always been fascinated by culture and organisation models where engineering managers are first line customer support operators. All purely in academic research though.
