I call that self darwinism : regularly asking yourself what is a better version of yourself. Requires a little of creativity and lot of discipline though...

Yes but many times people ask you to keep doing one thing generating revenue, but you also see various different ways through which you can hack into other spaces? When is the right time to do it? How will we figure it out?

Like we launched workshop Nooks today, which is a little bit different from what we do, and the customer requested it, but may be being very new people might get confused about what we really do? I also see various other sources which we can hack.

At the end of the essay you talk about a startup that you thought had the potential to grow into 3 different kinds of Microsoft. Curious to know what happened to it now 5 years later (of course it won't take away from the essay's point whichever way, as it is sample of 1).

Also think inexperience makes them not care, even when they do know what that successful thing is. I see lots of founders that like what they’re building (at the early stage) more than what it could be.
