Yet oftentimes founders with big vision deal with investors that can only see 1-2 steps ahead wanting a fast return rather than taking a bigger leap.

This is a truism. For any given startup, a given amount of work will make them successful or even extremely successful. For 99% of them this mechanical output would make the founders glow white hot and burn to ash. Harmful because undervalues importance of luck.

The biggest lesson I have learnt that "effort" is overestimated and we kind of get into a "religious" duty of putting more effort as a moral obligation. Any reasonable success of a startup is only ensured when your effort creates leverage otherwise it will be eventually wasted
