My dad introduced me to yoga when I was fifteen & suffering from chronic depression. I’ve found that my thinking & self constantly evolves ever since. Depressive thoughts sometimes occur but now I‘m rather detached from them.

Look into Zen Buddhism its also good at fighting depression.

There’s a ton to learn from cultures that are too often dismissed because of European/US exceptionalism, or because practices can’t be explained by our current scientific understanding. The recent ‘discovery’ of gut/brain connectivity is one example, nutrition will be huge also.

That might have been true in the 1950s, but at this point "the West needs to learn from the East" has been a cliche for decades
