Saying something in an essay gets you trolled less than saying the same thing in a tweet. Partly because an essay has a sort of reading-comprehension CAPTCHA, and partly because there's no easy retweet-with-comment for an essay.

Right, we're definitely misunderstood in different ways. I meant simply that tweets and essays can have significantly different temporal exposure patterns and a difference in peak troll rate might not necessarily indicate a difference in lifetime trolls.
