All other things being equal, avoid "strategic" investors. What that word "strategic" means is that they have ulterior motives that are unlikely to be aligned with yours.

In the slack case: Isn't diversification a good idea for them as an investor? Shouldn't they want some of the apps they support to de-platform?

In the more general case, are you saying that an investor can never be truly aligned with you in the long term? i.e. If they have strategic interests you will diverge and become competing interests? Or that we should be aware of that, and make decisions accordingly?
