In this last essay I realized I could skip including the references to the notes in the main text. It seems to have worked; only a few people said anything.

Always appealed to the completist in me; what was an issue, though, was that you'd have to scroll back every time you read a footnote. My guess is this is why people gave up on them originally, not because they didn't see the value in them.

Went to comments to write about that exact issue!!! I always struggle with it when I read your essays. Skipping [numbers] I regret skipping valuable stuff, but otherwise I struggle getting back:-)
