I'd be interested to know which of the bazillion startup solutions floating around out there you're into. I toyed for a bit with an FB clone but where instead of a "like" you give a small bit of virtual currency (not crypto.. more like in-game currency that can be cashed out).

Anyway I'm glad I abandoned it b/c at this point I'd rather waste my life on literally anything but doing a social network, even one that takes off. Moderation doesn't scale, etc.

Almost all news sites do this. I subscribed to NYT or WSJ at some point in the past. Cancelling those was a nightmare. It’s just stupid. I don’t mind paying $30/month but please keep it simple “reader mode” type of content. Charge more for plain authentic well-researched content

News sites limiting the amount of articles one reads on them is a virtue in disguise.

Ease-of-canceling has gotten a decent amount better in the last 3 years. Online services seem to have paved the way, and now consumers are starting to demand it. Amazon excepted, of course.

Irony alert, from the article. I opened the article in Safari to extend my monthly limit. Install a few browsers. Plus prioritize
@tylercowen - who is the only regular column I read. Plus plus don't optimize for wasted $10^2 on subscriptions if you have 10^8pic.twitter.com/5PwBMtK52J

This cognitive load is greater than canceling a subscription. https://twitter.com/search?q=from%3Apaulg%20cancel&src=typed_query …pic.twitter.com/bZ5P0r2sqX
