Seems like a uniquely California problem, sadly. Texas, Mid-West, and even NYC to a degree are sparkling clean in comparison. Disgusting driving on the highway seeing roads lined with trash

Tumbleweeds-of-trash under the overhead train lines is one of my 3 earliest memories of coming to America as a kid in the early '90s. NYC beaches (seen later that year) were _the most_ surprisingly-trashy places.
