But it would have to use images from actual, physical books. Almost everything about the physical book is a clue: the design of the cover, the texture of the paper, the typography, even the way it's worn. (Yes, you can very much judge a book by its cover.)

Cannot discount the diverse perspectives that each book shop owner brings to hand curation. How they pick what they pick. Books Inc in Campbell downtown and City lights in SF have different feel and you come home with a different set of discoveries.
