He probably now collects drum kits. I desperately wanted a computer from age 11 till we finally could afford one at 16. So of course now I obsessively collect old computers. My theory is unmet childhood wants translate into adult collection habits.

An interesting idea. Personally, I've never been into collecting computers, or buying them obsessively, even though I owned my first PC at the age of 17.
