Not crazy at all. Higher centre of gravity ergo less stability. More mass ergo more momentum. Combine the two, you get a car that's less reactive and more prone to rolling over than a saloon.

I often think about how useless the crash safety ratings are when you're a small car and the other person is in an SUV. That's why I tend to sway towards SUV. That and greater visibility.
