When you finish YC, they take you into a special room and tell you that fundraising is not success, but merely a means to an end, which is creating a successful company. They also tell you this constantly before YC, during it, and after it.

Sadly it's not just pitches. Half the time when I read an established/funded company's About page or their home page I have literally no idea what they actually do.
