I like this one the most.
Gates: "it's not my goal to be inspiring"
Interviewer: "What are you doing things for?"
Gates : "Optimization"

I heard the film preview's [music's] 'subtext' as "this will be really really inspiring".

Honestly loved every second of the docu-series. One of the most disruptive thinkers society will ever see.

The problem with the outliers theory is that it’s more of a lazy answer than a real explanation. Hours are definitely a factor but the great ones are never the same and always have something fundamentally different about them.

There are common principles that are quite well resumed in Outliers. Everyone retain 10.000 hours because it was catchy. Nobody will bring a perfect theory on a such chaotic subject and I don't think he have claimed that.

What's your take on mini doc series on Bill
@netflix ,Paul ? Do you agree with 10,000 hours rule in the first place? Or does the show make us feel that Bill was an outlier by birth? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I once asked Gladwell if his 10K hours theory applies to writers as well - he said no - that’s a bit different :)

The mini-docu-series is great, but this article is not.

Same, I think it misses
@Gladwell's point in "Outliers". He never says talent is unneeded, but that success does not come from only raw talent. The documentary confirmed it more than anything. - Show replies
