In my experience, folks who claim to outperform the markets have little interest in whether the Sharpe and Sortino ratios of their performance validate that claim

I agree your statements holds multiple truths (1) many of those people are probably fooling themselves at some level (2) Sharpe/sortino are perhaps the wrong metrics (3) not enough education tells them that they have reason to care.
