I thought I was a plain-spoken writer before but it was helpful to explicitly use your rule of not writing anything I wouldn't say out loud.

Haven’t encountered this rule before but it’s perfect. And I’m not sure how intentional it was on your part, but I’m fascinated by how “plain-spoken” can be used as a literal description of such writing: writing as plainly as you actually speak.
