Interesting. In Israeli fighter pilot selection it’s mostly talent and skill. With commandos, on the other hand, it’s mostly grit.

Why has it taken 30-some odd years for this to become more mainstream? Definitely hear about grit a lot nowadays, but never growing up. And how does the current focus on this change things? Is grit a table stake now?

Possibly because schools prefer to encourage obedience, which determination is somewhat at odds with.

Honestly I feel this can be a bit manipulative. Yes determination is important, but what about opp. Cost. Its upto the entrepreneur to manage their determination and the vc investor to manage the entrepreneurs opportunity cost. Then there's no excuse!
