Here's my review of William Finnegan's surfing memoir, "Barbarian Days." Considering that Finnegan discusses taking a class on James Joyce's last book from Norman O. Brown, I should have entitled my essay "Finnegans Wave."https://www.takimag.com/article/surfer_privilege_steve_sailer/ …

I like how you rebel against quotation marks. I dislike them too.

The audiobook helped me through the hardest work time of my life. I bankrolled/ran a 300+ person clinical trial out of the back of a minivan & a rented college apt, all while running a consulting co & teaching at Georgetown. When startup life is especially grinding, I play it.

What a beautiful read it is. I loved every page of it. Also, no need to be a surfer to enjoy it.

Depending on your state of mind, it’s either a “quit your job” book or a “find your passion” book. For me it used to be, “quit your job”, but after finding a better fit the moral changed.
