It would be Interesting to have companies go through YC where they DON'T try to raise money at the end of it. Would many of these companies be better off just living on the cheap and eating ramen longer (and therefore not forcing hiring too early on?)
Companies have tried the whole range of strategies. Empirically the optimal one is to raise money and then spend it very slowly.
Makes sense. Most people tend to think they need to spend money simply because they have it. The good ones resist that temptation.
