The term "silent majority" was popularized by Nixon. Then it meant people who were silent because they didn't care enough about politics to speak out. It's pretty chilling that it can now be used to mean people who are afraid to express their opinions lest a mob come after them.

we live under unarguably the worst president in the last 200 years. These are .. not normal times.

The most distasteful perhaps, but I think Bush II killed more people.

most obviously corrosive to actual democracy in the US, is what I meant.

And W only did more damage because he was was somehow less of a buffoon than trump and was popular

Imagine if t was president when 9-11 happened, the country wasn’t already weary of war, and half the country wasn’t up in arms every second to slow down the constant abuses of power. t would have nuked a middle eastern country by now

While it is unfortunate Trump, a person who should never held public office, has become president, it is fortunate it happened now. Him as president at any other time last century would have been an unspeakable disaster. Now we can probably wearher it.

I don’t think trumps policies are bad, people hate him as a person and get loonie about it... Obama has terrible policies but was a “nice guy” and they are obsessed

All of these articles could be summed up in one sentence. “Why can’t we just go back to the center-left march toward globalism and incremental Western decline that we seemed content with pre-2016?”

I don’t feel any threat from conservatives for, say, being far to the left on environmental issues. This article tries the rhetorical “both sides” trick, but it looks asymmetrical to me

The issue raised in this article interrelates with what I feel about social media these days. IMO, this extends to almost any topic, not just politics. I don't even live in the US.

Not sure if political statements in social can be used against me. So I tend to avoid political statements. Also my opinions change, but the timeline does not indicate that.
