The fallacy is that you *only* need 10x engineers. Woz was the only 10x engineer needed for the Apple I. Contrast it with Elon Musk who was said to have written spaghetti code for Zip2.

There has been an effort to discredit folks like Steve Jobs. Silicon Valley prefers cheap replaceable labor and so a 10x engineer is a liability. The truth is that top engineers exist and routinely make > $1M/yr
