One of the most alarming things about climate change is that there are consequences of higher temperatures that increase at a much higher rate than the temperatures themselves, and these also tend to be harder to predict.https://www.euronews.com/2019/08/15/there-have-been-three-times-more-wildfires-in-the-eu-so-far-this-year …

I saw that The Guardian switched to always refer to it as the 'climate crisis' (instead of climate change) and 'global heating' (instead of global warming). I think that's a step in the right direction.

💯! it’s scary how the name ‘change’ is downplaying the problem

Have you heard State of Fear by the late Michael Crichton? If so, sincerely love to hear your take/thoughts on it! Curious what you'd think?

We're going to lose so much potential progress over the next century because we'll be having to expend so much of our engineering and innovation on climate hardening the things we already have.

Also, there were more than hundred intense wildfires within the Arctic circle. And these are just early symptoms.https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/145380/arctic-fires-fill-the-skies-with-soot …

Sadly only a tiny fraction of the startup “ecosystem” really acknowledges the magnitude and urgency of our situation. Keeping our eyes glued to various digital things (and physical $$$) is so much easier than looking at the scary truth.

Actually there are a lot of startups working on climate change now, either directly or indirectly. A lot of founders realize it's a problem.
